This project is centred around putting Ashford in the limelight as a significant new player in the streaming revolution with a mixed-use development centred on the creation of TV and film production space.
The speed of change in this industry makes it one of the fastest growing industries globally and with that, the need for modern space. The emergence of major global players such as Netflix and Amazon Prime and the emergence of streaming only operations from some of the more traditional players such as Disney with their Disney+ operation means that demand is fast outstripping supply.
Although Kent has a presence in the media industry with the likes of Maidstone Studios, the combination of a forward-thinking developer, a specialist player in film real estate and a site like Newtown Works means that Ashford and Kent can maximise the proximity to London to curate a new industry.
The opportunity in terms of profile and job creation makes this a true game changer for the borough and one that takes a long redundant complex of buildings and transforms it into an epic regeneration project.
