Quinn Estates partners with Housing 21 as construction of retirement apartment development at Eddington Park, Herne Bay begins

Quinn Estates has started construction on the latest phase of its flagship Eddington Park development in Herne Bay, delivering 63 high-quality affordable retirement apartments and commercial space alongside the homes and community facilities already provided.

The project is being completed in partnership with Housing 21, one of England’s leading specialist affordable retirement providers, with sites across the country providing homes for rent, purchase and shared ownership.

The scheme marks another milestone for Eddington Park, on the site of the former Herne Bay Golf Club, which has been firmly established as the area’s finest new development setting the pace for a decade of regeneration that has attracted much needed new homes, community and leading sports facilities.

Herne Bay is Kent’s renaissance town with two miles of beach set against the Victorian pier and seafront and fast connection to London and the rest of the county. This area has so much to offer including the cosmopolitan delights of nearby Whitstable and historic Canterbury. With the sea, beach and independent shopping this is one of Kent’s most sought-after locations.

A £10m, 15-acre Herne Bay Sports Hub providing state-of-the-art facilities for four local sports clubs and a Co-Op store will be on the doorstep for future residents.  These facilities were part of a mixed-use development, including 572 homes of mixed sizes and tenures granted planning permission in September 2015.

This latest phase of Eddington Park set within a landscaped environment, will create much-needed, affordable homes for older people, allowing residents to enjoy their retirement with support, should they need it, in a safe and modern setting.

Mark Quinn, CEO and Chairman, Quinn Estates, said:
“We are delighted to be working with Housing 21 to bring forward these new retirement apartments at Eddington Park.
