Herne Bay Sports Hub

Location: HERNE BAY, KENT

Space: 572 HOUSES, COMMERCIAL SPACE AND A SPORTING SUPER HUB

Quinn Estates purchased a 110 acre failed golf club and set about creating a vision for an extension to Herne Bay that would provide state of the art sporting facilities for Herne Bay Youth Football, Cricket, Hockey and Tennis Clubs.

Quinn Estates sold the site to Redrow Homes in what was 2015’s biggest land deal in Kent.

Providing 572 homes including a policy compliant 30% affordable housing, the scheme has been lauded by the council as an exemplar for the district and is the only strategic site to have delivered housing in the district to date.

The scheme has provided:

• £6.8m to the local community for education and highways improvements

• 53 acres of publicly accessible open space

• £100,000 to Herne & Broomfield Parish Council for their new village hall

• New business space

• Significant ecological enhancements
